**NOTICE**  The Department filed proposed amendments to 815 KAR 7:120 and 815 KAR 7:125 adopting the 2018 Kentucky Building Code Second Edition and the 2018 Kentucky Residential Code Second Edition.  The administrative regulation amendments with the incorporated Kentucky specific amendments were filed with the Legislative Research Commission in April 2019.  The proposed amendments update the previously adopted 2018 Kentucky Building Code and 2018 Kentucky Residential Code. Notice on Manufactured Home Installations
815 KAR 25:090 establishes the inspection process for manufactured home installations. Recent updates have raised numerous and repetitive questions from potentially affected industry groups.  For convenience, efficiency, and guidance, the Department of Housing, Buildings, and Construction (HBC) provides responses to frequently asked questions.

 
Notice on Kentucky Building and Residential Codes
HBC adopted the 2018 Kentucky Building Code (“KBC”) and the 2018 Kentucky Residential Code (“KRC”).  The 2018 KBC and the 2018 KRC went into effect on Aug. 22, 2018.  The codes are based on the 2015 International Building Code and the 2015 International Residential Code, both with Kentucky amendments.  The mandatory effective date for the 2018 KBC and the 2018 KRC will be Jan. 1, 2019.

HBC's Mission and Responsibilities
HBC enforces statewide standards for building construction. The agency ensures fire and life safety in existing buildings; licenses/certifies plumbers, electricians, boiler contractors, sprinkler and/or fire alarm contractors and building inspectors.  The main DHBC phone number is 502-573-0365, you can reach the specific divisions with the phone numbers below.  The department is comprised of the following divisions:
